Permaculture Design Course (Istanbul)

Join three of the PRI’s Best PDC teachers in Istanbul and learn how to design sustainable and resilient living systems with permaculture! PRI accredited PDC teachers Rhamis Kent, Owen Hablutzel and Mustafa F. Bakir will be joining forces at the city where continents meet. The 72-hour standard Permaculture Design Certificate Course takes you on a journey deep into natural systems, from which we learn sustainable & resilient living skills.

“Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex, the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.” – Bill Mollison

The two week intensive course includes designing for all major climatic zones (temperate, sub-tropic, tropical & arid), planning food forests, organic gardens, the essentials of water harvesting, aquaculture systems and much more. Upon completion of the course, graduates receive Permaculture Design Certificate, an internationally recognized credential for permaculture & sustainability consulting.

The PDC serves as foundation for further permaculture work and study and is a prerequisite for the Diploma in Permaculture Design, offered through The Permaculture Institute. Credit for this course is now accepted by a growing number of universities around the world. To date, thousands of permaculture designers worldwide have been certified through this course, and now comprise a global network of educators, ecological activists who influence major corporations, individuals creating new business alternatives and groups of committed people working together to change the way we view and design into our landscapes.

The curriculum is based on Bill Mollison’s book: PERMACULTURE: A Designer’s Manual. Students are invited to bring details of their own sites or potential sites to consider during the course.

Topics covered include:

• Theory and principles of permaculture

The only requirement to be eligible for a Permaculture Design Certificate is full attendance and participation in the course. There will be no exam or test to pass. The student is expected to attend all lectures, participate in the design exercise and participate in the design presentations. Up to 12 hours of the course can be missed with a valid excuse (health or emergency related), except from within the first three days of lectures and from within design exercise and presentations. In order to get his or her certificate, the student must make up the hours missed by copying notes from at least two other students. If more than 12 hours of the course are missed, PRI Turkey cannot issue a certificate.
