Small-scale family farming to meet household food and livelihood needs is a central activity for most households in rural Malawi. Food insecurity and malnutrition are persistent problems for these farmers.

In Ethiopia, 37% of the population is undernourished. Many families have just 0.25 hectares of land. Yet in projects run by Send a Cow and local partners, farmers are feeding their families and earning an income without encroaching on marginal land or depending on chemical fertilisers.
