International Year of Soils 2015

The 68th UN General Assembly declared 2015 the International Year of Soils. The International Permaculture Conference this September is listed as an event by the FAO.

Soils provide a key set of fundamental ecosystem services that are crucial for our well-being. Despite their crucial role, soils have been taken for granted for a long time. Considering that human pressures on soils are reaching critical limits that jeopardize our future, there is an urgent need to raise awareness on the importance of this strategic resource. Soils also help to combat and adapt to climate change by playing a key role in the carbon cycle.

People around the world are using permaculture to create the healthy, living soil that we want. Join us this September at the International Permaculture Conference and Convergence to learn more about the applications of permaculture and how they can help us design the world we want and need.
